Roy Peters Plays at Watertown

Roy Peters aka:"The StoryTeller" at Thompson Park, WaterTown Zoo.

Hello, my name is Roy Peters and I am the story teller...of StorytTeller Flutes. It is my wish to tell you here a little about myself so that you may have a clearer picture of just who I am and what it is I do....

I make Early American  Flutes....I am not  Native American ....I am just a guy who has a profound respect for what the Early American flute has brought to his life....an instrument that connected me from the very first time I played it....a non-musician....and a non-wood worker prior to my first flute....If you look closely at the regalia that I am wearing in the above picture you will see a mixture of Celtic and native garb . . . .

Now...I don't know...I still do not consider myself a musician or a master wood worker....just a guy who loves to play and build...and if people should like my sound and get some enjoyment out of my flutes...that is a good thing....and if not...that's ok too....I try to dwell on the good things and leave the negativism to the people who do that best...

By now many of you have read this page and know how it came to pass that I became a flute player and maker. But for those of you whom are first time visitors I will give you the shortened story of how it came to pass that I have evolved into the "flute man".

It is funny how time flies by so quickly. I am not even sure how long ago it was that I first started on my flute journey. I believe it was late 1992 or early 1993 that I was with my oldest son lil'Joe at a Pow Wow in Suffern, NY. It was call the "Best of the Best native American Pow Wow". I remember walking around the vendors booth for the 50th time and then heading back up to the bleachers to watch my son dance. I met an elderly gentleman who told me his name was "Tom". He told me that if I was to build a flute, it would change my life. I remember giving him a strange look and trying to get away from him. Now I can't tell you why, but I did end up building that flute. It was not all that good. But it had a beautiful voice that spoke to me. Since that time Tom and I have become very great friends. Have you ever met a stranger who seems to know you better than you know yourself....? That is what happened to me that day. It is a story that will never end.....for you see my flute journey is ever evolving....I am always meeting new and wonderful folks....and ever now and then I meet someone with that special "twinkle" in their eyes....someone who knows me better than I do myself.

To this day Tom tells me my job is to get people to " listen with their hearts". This is what I do.

oh yes....I believe that each flute will tell a story...in fact many....if you learn to think... listen and talk with your heart....

The Stories continue....

The story of the Dream Dancer....(coming soon)
